in Public Administration - Clinch Valley College (1998)
3. Please state your current job position(s): Owner of MainBoard,
LLC.
4. Please state any past relevant work experience: Operate as executive
of all business related functions of my company, responsible for all aspects
of a business from development to financials. The objectives of end business
are the same end result in government, don't close with a deficit, if possible
close the fiscal year in black ink. I also have served on the DCWIN Board
of Directors for the past 3 ½ years and worked with the other directors
to achieve growth, ensure the Authority has not cost the citizens any increases
in taxes and to be completely self sustaining with the hopeful future that
the surplus DCWIN can produce will help other aspects of the county government.
5. Please state the goals you want to accomplish if you are elected:
Deficit Removal, Economic Growth and Prosperity for Dickenson County.
Better Education opportunities, Better business opportunities - make Dickenson
County a better place to live for future generations.
6. Please state the biggest concern(s), in your opinion, that affects
our area: Economic Depression
7. Please state what you would do to address those concerns: Work
with a business owner mindset in any and all ventures entered in to by Dickenson
County. Work with a different attitude toward companies that may want to
locate in Dickenson County then leave after the tax breaks end. Ensure
that proper severance fees are received from the coal and gas companies
that come to Dickenson County and then leave unaccounted for or assessed
on the company word only. Strive for positive results in the interests
of the Citizens, they are the "owners" of this "company"
that I would be entrusted to operate and make successful.
8. Please state why you should be elected: As a business owner,
I have worked to ensure my business' success. There have been ups and downs
in business and I have learned how to adjust and work with those times and
events. I have learned how to enter new opportunities for growth and learned
how to work with people and companies that have crooked intentions - good
for them, bad for me that would set my company back. I have learned how
to work with and avoid bad business decisions and look for the good opportunities
for future changes. With my collective experience and education, I will
serve the citizens well when entrusted with this job due to my experience
and education. I want Dickenson County to prosper - I have two children
that I would like to raise here and I want them to be able to stay here
and prosper as well after they are grown - if they want to, but to give
them the want to, Dickenson County is going to have to be able to offer
opportunity.
